Mercure Tamworth Officially Opened

Tamworth’s newest 4.5 star hotel – Mercure Tamworth – was officially opened on Friday February 10 with a ceremonial plaque unveiling led by the Honourable Barnaby Joyce MP, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources and Federal Member for New England, together with Danesh Bamji, General Manager Franchise Australia, AccorHotels and John McClelland, President, Wests Entertainment Group.

The three-story, 52 room Mercure Tamworth will be operated by Wests Entertainment Group in partnership with AccorHotels. The Honourable Barnaby Joyce MP commented that the new partnership between AccorHotels and Wests Entertainment Group signifies a confidence in the region’s economy and potential for tourism growth. Going on to say;
“By injecting much needed new hotel supply into the country music capital, the new Mercure Tamworth’s opening signifies business confidence in regional NSW’s burgeoning tourism economy with a major operator like AccorHotels further investing into the region”
“Wests Entertainment Group has been an integral part of Tamworth for over 50 years and the local economy is set to further benefit from their business operation, with the creation up to 35 new employment opportunities directly associated with the hotel’s opening” concluded Mr Joyce.

General Manager Franchise Australia, AccorHotels, Danesh Bamji commented on the Mercure brand, saying;
“To be a Mercure hotel you need to be aligned with the community, aligned with the region, and aligned with the people of where the hotels are actually based. Hence when the opportunity came to actually place a Mercure and align our company with an organisation that has over 50 years’ worth of community engagement and service it was absolutely a good choice, and one that we really wanted to pursue quite keenly.”

During the ceremony Wests Entertainment Group also honoured their longstanding relationship with popular country music artist Adam Harvey by naming a suite in the hotel after the multiple golden Guitar winner. The Adam Harvey Suite is now available for bookings.
