Tamworth Cup Calcutta at Diggers
WHEN: Friday 26 April 2019
TIME: 12 noon
WHERE: Wests Diggers – Scores Sports Bar
TICKETS: $5 for one ticket OR $50 for a book of 10. Available at Wests or Diggers Reception, from now until the Calcutta or from the Tamworth Jockey Club.
THE TICKET DRAW
The Calcutta commences with one ticket being drawn for each runner in the Mercure Tamworth Showcase Cup Race. If your ticket is drawn you ‘own’ that horse ahead of the auction stage. All proceeds from the ticket draw go into the prize pool.
THE AUCTION
Each horse will be auctioned at the Calcutta with attendees having the opportunity to bid for that horse. You CAN bid on your own horse. After the hammer falls on each horse 50% of the sale price goes to the person who drew that horse in the ticket draw and the remaining 50% goes into the ever-growing prize pool. The highest bidder in the auction stage becomes the new owner of that horse. Successful bidders must pay for their horses on the night.
AFTER THE RACE
After the running of the Mercure Tamworth Showcase Cup Race on Sunday 28 April 2019 the prize pool (consisting of all ticket sales plus 50% of auction proceeds) is divided as follows:
60% to the owner of the winning horse
20% to the owner of second place
10% to the owner of third
The final 10% will be donated to the Tamworth Jockey Guild
