Mak & Shar

LIVE & FREE

Hats Off to Country Festival | Wests

Mak & Shar are one of Australia’s most refreshing new country-pop duos, known for their tight sibling harmonies, modern production and energetic live performances. With a fast-growing fanbase and a distinctive sound that blends heartfelt storytelling with contemporary country-pop, the brothers have quickly emerged as standout voices in Australia’s next wave of country artists.
Raised on music and performing together from a young age, their natural chemistry is the thread that runs through everything they create. Shar toured nationally with Hugh Jackman in The Boy From Oz, while Mak built a career in national TV commercials, film, television and theatre. Both appeared in the musical Quambatook, the story of John Williamson’s childhood, a project that deepened their connection to music and laid the groundwork for their partnership as a duo.

Since officially launching in 2022, they’ve built a loyal online audience of more than 45,000 fans and earned recognition early on, with their debut single Kill Me Softly reaching the semi-finals of the International Songwriting Competition.

Their momentum carried into 2024 and 2025, with the duo taking the stage at some of Australia’s biggest festivals including Deni Ute Muster, Gympie Music Muster, Groundwater Country Music Festival and the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Their reputation for high-energy live shows has made them one of the most talked-about emerging acts.
2025 marked a major breakthrough with the release of Counting Clouds, which debuted at #1 on the Australian Country Radio Chart. The single went on to receive widespread international airplay across major country stations in the UK and US, earning praise from industry programmers and further solidifying Mak & Shar’s growing profile beyond Australia.
With new music on the horizon and an increasing presence across national and international stages, Mak & Shar continue to build their sound, expand their audience and cement themselves as one of Australia’s most promising modern country-pop duos.
