Sydney Male Choir NSW Regional Tour

On The Road Again To Tamworth

Music has taken many forms throughout time, and cultures have developed styles and instruments to express emotions in endlessly fascinating ways. But nothing quite rivals the human voice. When that is harnessed in powerful, soaring harmonies by the Sydney Male Choir, you know you are experiencing something special.

This iconic stalwart of the Sydney music and arts scene, which is celebrating its 110th anniversary this year, has included Tamworth in its New England and Central West “On The Road Again” tour for a wonderful outpouring of music, laughter and sheer entertainment as part of these celebrations.

Their story commenced in tragic circumstances in 1913 when a promising violinist in inner city Petersham, Charlie Miller, had his violin career cut short by an industrial accident. Undaunted, and driven by his passion for music, he started this men’s chorus. It is remarkable how they have adapted over the decades to changing musical tastes and preferences of their audiences. They were regular live concert performers on ABC radio until the 1950’s.

At their concert, you will be impressed by the sheer range and versatility of their repertoire – think Billy Joel, Joe Cocker, John Farnham, Queen, Credence Clear Rival, Broadway musicals, spirituals, opera and everything else through to the classics.
There really will be something for everyone and you will get to experience what they like to call ‘goosebumps territory’, where the cascading harmonies of male voices transport you to a realm of musical joy that only a live performance by these guys can deliver.

Last year the boys were invited to feature on the nationally televised program, Australia’s Got Talent, where a great performance of “You are so beautiful”, and a Queen medley produced a rapturous reaction with the audience rocking in the aisles.
